Serving the Children of the World

Responsibilities of Members

Members are expected to promote Kiwanis and bring in interested potential new members. As part of this, Members are encouraged to wear the Kiwanis pin at all times, but the pins should certainly be worn at meetings. Some Kiwanis Clubs fine members who are not wearing pins, we do not do this.

There is a strong social component in the meetings. On arrival, members should greet other members present with a handshake and should wear name badges for the benefit of new members and guests.

Every member is expected to be on a committee, either of his/her choice or at the direction of the president. Committees plan and organize all club activities and projects. Participation on a committee ensures that every member has an opportunity to be involved with at least one service project and /or fundraising event.

Each member should participate in at least one interclub event during the Kiwanis year - an interclub is a visit by four members from one Club to another Kiwanis Club's meeting. This promotes cooperation between Clubs and helps to spread ideas and best practices.
